 WOW this was my first real attempt at watercolor, NO videos, BAD paper and hadn't painted in over 20 years. I love birch trees, I never really knew about them until we got some land in Maine...so I stare at them, touch them, play with the birch paper, use them for firewood when they fall. They have a stark beauty between all the pines and rocks. I just find them magical.
So to see my first painting up on a screen makes me happy because it is so far from where I thought my skill level was and I was upset with how it looked. But I painted it, kept it, and most importantly I DIDN"T GIVE UP. I haven't always had patience and I never knew it was a skill I could learn but after working in a hectic, fast paced environment with your name being called 50 times in an hour I quickly learned how to be patient. Nothing will teach you patience more than failing at something you know you want but still going back and learning through the mistakes, over and over again. So I hope to share some of those thought processes as I worked through understanding fluid watercolor.what ratio of pigment to water, what paper works best with what I am trying to capture and finding interesting compositions. Bear with me, as all of this is still new. So with that being said, Heres to a NEW YEAR a continued venture into watercolor art for me and filling your home and heart with the beauty of life.
